Easter Traditions, well almost

Yesterday we tried starting our own traditions for Easter; tried being the operative word. We woke up and Lydia and I watched The Prince of Egypt as a shout out to Passover. I started the dinner prep, we got a visit from Uncle Michael (with a basket), and then we went to church. When we came home we tried to put Lydia down for a nap, but that didn’t quite turn out but while she was in her room we were visited by the Easter Bunny. He left a bunch of eggs filled with the Easter Message in the back yard. I tried to take pictures of Lydia finding the eggs (“Where’s egg? Oh, there iiii is!”) but of course the batteries died on the camera. Had I taken the time to go and replace them I would have missed the whole thing so I guess I have to be content with the memory. Unfortunately we also found an unpleasant something while hunting eggs; an expired baby squirrel. We were able to enjoy a small dinner: ham, green jello salad, and twice baked potatoes (I had rolls but of course forgot about them until after dinner). We then went over to Aunt Anita’s house to visit. Now I knew that stuffed animal collections expanded and grew fast when you had kids but I didn’t know they grew sooooo fast; exponentially fast. Yesterday we accumulated 7 new additions to our collection, SEVEN! and for ONE Easter we ended up with FIVE, yes FIVE Easter baskets. All in all it was a good day. We were going to watch The Miracle Maker later in the evening but we weren’t able to fit it in anywhere. Happy Easter!

DeeDee - Just think you can give them away because I must say…you will receive more each year! Well, maybe not, but I bet you do! You rock!

I’ve Got The Demon In Me

Lydia has started a disturbing and frightening pattern. It started yesterday night when I decided to take her “ba bye” with me. We stepped out the door and she would not leave the stoop. I walked to the car calling her after me. At first she came down the steps and then would immediately walk back up. The last time she did instead of heading for the car like is routine she decided to take a different route. She took a couple of steps onto the grass and then a devilish grin surfaced. She looked at me. “Don’t you dare.” Before I knew it she was running pell mell toward the street. Yes, that busy street that barely ever has a break in speeding traffic. Had I not grabbed her, in a death grip might I add, when I did I don’t really even want to think about what could have happened. I was so upset. I was mad at her but I wasn’t mad at her. Does that make sense? She did it again today and I turned into some demonic creature. She got away from Kevin and my voice started shrieking at her to stop and I’m sure that my eyes turned a shade of red and again, she laughed the entire time.

Can you feel the love? Can you?

We had a little dinner party here on Sunday. I mean people came and they ate, if that’s successful than there you have it. We were meeting my brother’s girlfriend for the first time and her 12 year old son. We are not known for our social skills so you can only imagine.
Caleb rolled over yesterday. From his back to his front and of course I was in the kitchen and didn’t get to see it. The same thing happened with Lydia. Now he just needs to roll over front to back. He is so funny. He cracks up laughing at Lydia for absolutely no reason. She can just look at him and he busts a gut. I think they really love each other.

The Death of a Mind or Maybe it’s just Lost

Today I came to the realization that I have unfortunately grown up. I can remember when I was younger and I would play with my doll house and act out these intricate mini dramas with the characters. Everyone was a player and everyone had their own back story and I had created that. I’m sure that if I took my dolls out today I could go through each one and tell you their backgrounds. However today while playing cars with my daughter my imagination only went as far as cars make noise (vroom) and the wheels go round. I don’t know about you but I do believe that some would call my mind pedestrian.

Fun Fun Fun

I am so excited. Is anyone else excited? Because I am. Did I mention that I am excited? I get to go shopping Monday for clothes for the kids. You wouldn’t think that this simple thing could make me so excited but I just love buying clothes for them. Especially cute ones at absolutely great deals.
I am also excited because we have a dinner date with a couple in our Ward. We don’t know them very well but this is a great opportunity to change that.
You would also think that part of my excitement is due to tomorrow being Valentine’s Day but then you would be absolutely wrong. Kevin and I decided that we aren’t going to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Instead maybe Lydia and I will make and decorate cookies or something. In the last few years I have become very anti-holiday, I’m not sure why.
Monday Michael took me with him to go clothes shopping. He’s got a hot date with his new honey and he wanted to pick out something special for tomorrow. I think we came up with a winner. He got a nice pair of jeans, a very light tan button up shirt, and a blueish argyle sweater to go over it all. Maybe I’ll have to have him take a picture and you can see the handy work.

Closed Lids and a Calm Soul

It has been a long day. Having a clingy baby is tough, very tough. As I type now though both of my babies lay sleeping angelically in their beds and the calm that comes from knowing that they are both resting is remarkable. And as I gentely lay Caleb down, whispering ‘thank you.’ toward the heavens because he actually stay asleep a relief sets in and I can wrap my mind around my life. Oh sweet sleep.

Finally a minute to sit down and clear my head. Caleb has just been so clingy the last few days. I can’t be sure but my thought is that it’s because Kevin and I both got sick at the same time and we had to call the in-laws in for help. I think that maybe Caleb is scared that we won’t be around again.
We have had a very uneventful week for the most part. We didn’t vote yesterday, I know “Bad Becca!” With the system set up the way it is sometimes it doesn’t even feel like our vote counts at all.
I’m not exactly sure why I’m even bothering writing on a blog that 1. no one reads or 2. that there’s nothing to write about. I’m just another boring house-wife. Not even a June Cleaver because compared to me, June is interesting.

DeeDee - Hmmm, gotcha! I read! I have read! And I will read again! So keep writing you crazy girl you! June Clever ain’t got nothin on you!
